Laying the Literacy Foundation: Emergent Reading in 4K

Emergent reading skills are the building blocks of lifelong literacy. In this interactive session, teachers will explore the essential components of emergent reading and how they connect to daily practice in PreK classrooms. Together, we will unpack strategies that strengthen oral language, phonological awareness, print concepts, and a love for books. Through discussion, modeling, and collaborative activities, participants will walk away with practical ideas and tools to weave literacy into playful, developmentally appropriate instruction.
